A quality children's book

This beautifully illustrated book is a delight for Brothers Grimm and Arthur Rackham fans. High quality paper is used throughout so the color plates are presented where they occur in each story, instead of being jammed together in the center. The font is easy to read with ample margins, so the stories can be savored without feeling rushed or the aid of a good light. Well done!

Grimm brothers remain the best fairy tale-tellers ever

This is one of the greatest fairy tale collections ever assembled. At a time when fairy tales and folk tales numbered in the thousands, the Grimms wrote and published a collection of just a few dozen gems, many of which remain classics to this day.

You are likely to have heard about many of these characters and stories. Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, two stories about Snow White, Cinderella, The Elves and the Shoemaker, Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, the Frog Prince, and the Golden Goose are just some of the more famous ones. To read the stories as they were originally written is a pleasure; to see that they all came from the same two minds is amazing. It would be like the Farrelly brothers directing films that won the Academy Award for best picture for ten years in a row.

It's also very fun to see the differences between these original stories and some of the versions that are floating around in popular culture. If you're thinking of buying a collection of fairy tales for your children, getting the actual stories instead of a sanitized Disney version will expose them to an important body of literature, and can serve as a starting point for many important discussions about the decisions that each character makes.

The book also has many wonderful stories that are less famous, but no less good. My favorites as a child included "The White Snake," which is about a man who eats a white snake and is given the power to talk with the animals; "The Six Servants" and "How Six Traveled Through the World," which each involve a set of servants with extraordinary powers; and "The Water of Life," in which three sons set off to find a magical elixir that can save their father.

There is no substitute for these magical and inventive tales, and this particular edition is extremely well done. There is at least one illustration for nearly every story, including some nicely done color plates that stimulate the imagination without substituting for it. The emphasis is definitely on the words rather than the pictures.

I highly recommend this book for children and adults alike.

Must Have Book For New and Expectant Moms!!!

Amazing!!

Dr. Jolene Brighten pours her heart and soul into her new book, Healing Your Body Naturally After Childbirth, delivering practical tips and remedies. She spends time explaining what happens to a woman's body after child birth and guides you through a step by step process to healing. From using tinctures, to essential oils, to giving nourishing recipes, to self-care tips, she's got you covered.

I love how she covers autoimmune thyroid and adrenal issues as well. Personally, I do not have any children, but I have struggled with my thyroid and adrenals for years, and I LOVED the valuable information and knowledge Dr. Brighten has shared. I have been working with Dr. Brighten for several months to help with my hormones, thyroid, and adrenals and I love her natural approach to healing.

She is also a real food advocate and includes some wonderful food tips and recipes that I will be implementing and making, like her Turmeric Ginger Tea and a variety of yummy smoothies. Every recipe includes purposeful superfood ingredients and are extremely nutrient dense.

YES! Understandable, relatable, and empowering.

Knowledge and support simply radiate from this book. Reading it felt more like a chat with a friend who not only knows how to take care of you, but wants you to be able to take care of yourself. Dr. Brighten answered questions I never thought to ask, but needed to know the answer to. I love that she speaks TO you, not at you. It's for sure my new go-to baby shower gift!

"Healing Your Body Naturally After Childbirth" is the definitive postpartum guide. I desperately wish this book had been around after my son had been born 7 years ago. Having this book as a resource would've saved me years of postpartum suffering and hours at the doctor's office. I love all the resources, recipes and real life experiences that Dr. Jolene Brighten included in this book...perfect for pregnant and postpartum mothers...even moms several years postpartum. I still learned some things that could be beneficial to me now! And after reading this book, told my sister who is 4 weeks PP to order it right away. Had I had this book after the baby was born, I could have addressed so many symptoms effectively and naturally and likely would have caught my Hashimoto's thyroiditis diagnosis much sooner.

About the Author
Marshall Campbell - My name is Marshall Campbell. I was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Detroit Michigan. I started to draw and write at an early age. Upon entering the ninth grade in high school, I took journalism for two years. During that time I wrote a column for the school newspaper. I also joined the journalism club. We wrote short stories, poetry, and in addition; discussed and critiqued each other’s work. After graduation from high school, I enlisted in the army as a paratrooper, where I spent three years, and received an honorable discharge with the rank of corporal. leaving the military, I entered college and spent two years studying drafting, because white newspapers turned me down for employment, and black newspapers positions where filled in journalism. Not being able to find a job in drafting, I finally considered auto factory work, and later was employed by the states preschool system as a teacher’s assistant. Some years later I answered Gods calling on my life and entered a local seminary and studied biblical counseling for two years. Writing sermons during my studies, took me back to my first love of writing. I am presently an ordained minister, and still writing sermons, but this is my first novel. Rosemary Campbell - Rosemary Campbell, born and raised in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude Olszewski, the fourth of seven children. I was raised a Catholic and educated in the Catholic school system. I graduated from Cody High School in Detroit, Michigan, and went to work in the private sector where I worked several jobs in the insurance Industry until I met my husband Marshall Campbell. We married in 1980 and had our first daughter Stacey in 1983. I suffered a miscarriage with a second pregnancy after Stacey, but God was merciful and awarded us with Nathena in 1989. I reentered the work force in 1997, after 15 years as a stay at home mom. I presently work for Value Options, where we manage the mental, health and dependent benefits for the auto industry and others companies.

Helpful Guide to Raising Children

This is a very logical, common sense guide for parents to use as a reference. The theme of the book, Love and Teach, seems an obvious goal of parenthood, but raising children can be stressful and we sometimes get lost and forget how to love our children without spoiling them. I would highly recommend this book to remind parents how to have a healthy relationship with their children.

Sally Hull wrote her first novel at age seventeen and has gone on to write over forty books. She writes in a variety of genres, since she enjoys reading a variety of stories. The kids in this story just don’t measure up to the standards of their classmates. And the two main adults do not measure up to the ideas of those around them. But that does not mean that they really are misfits. When all is said and done, they are the heroes. This is a family thrown together for convenience sake. Each one has a physical difficulty. The man is blind. The woman is in a wheelchair. The children are orphaned and adopted by this couple. One of the kids is deaf, while his sister has shut out the world and lives in a little world of her own. The oldest boy stutters and limps. And the oldest girl was born with only one arm. They are given a farm in Michigan in the mid nineteenth century. When they arrive, they realize that the man who rules the small town is prejudiced against them, because they are different from others. Only God can sort it all out. But He is a patient and wise God, and works in ways that no one expects. In this day and age, the current word seems to be: bullying. Let us endure the hard days with grace and hope, and then enjoy the days following."

Good Family Story

I liked the story line and thought the family working together as a unit was done very well. The one thing I didn't like about it was the beating that the children were given. I didn't think these acts were necessary to the story itself.

The most useful book series for learning German!

I am really loving these fantastic English-German books! They're really helping me to get my head around the language!

The books themselves are great little stories that you can really enjoy more than once! This is the third one I have read now and I'm looking forward to reading the fourth! It's disappointing that there are only four of these - I can't help but want more!

I love that the book is in both English and German and that both languages are side by side throughout one section, then the full story can be read fully in both languages. It helps you to pick out certain words and phrases as you go through! I also really enjoy the 50 set questions at the end of the book that you can answer to see how much you've really learnt through reading the book!

Really really helpful for anyone wanting to learn German!

Great read!

I love this book! From first introduction to TAB the panda looking to find his passion. This book is great for children who just need that spark to get them started on their goals. Good book with a positive message. Well written and understandable across several reading levels. The illustrations are amazing. Even without the words my son was able to follow along and understand the story concepts. I highly recommend this book as an addition to any children's book collection. 5 Stars! For TAB. Can't wait to see him solve more problems and develop as a character. Thank you!

Beautifully illustrated children's book!

Beautifully illustrated children's book that delivers an empowering message! As a mom, and an avid reader, I am constantly on the lookout for great books for my little ones. I'm a mother of three, ranging from ages 3 through 10, including two girls and a boy. So, when I'm on my search, I'm usually looking for something neutral that all three can enjoy together.

This book proved to be neutral enough to appeal to all three of my children. My youngest daughter loves the illustrations, and keeps tapping the adorable little panda's face on the screen! She very rarely takes any real interest in e-books, which is the version I own, so I was VERY pleased to discover a new option for her.

My son likes that the main character is a little boy (panda) like him, and found it very relatable in that sense.

My oldest daughter loves that the focus of the book is realizing your dreams and not being too ashamed to pursue them, even at a young age. Which has always been something she's struggled with.

Overall, I am very pleased with this book as a whole. I would definitely recommend it for children at a 3rd-6th grade reading level, and I look forward to more books from this author.

epic poetry at its best

This book is a meticulously translated tale of ancient India, with all of the greatest elements of a great story thrown in - treachery, redemption, adventure, murder, passionate love, family dynasties, greed, etc. If you can read above a sixth-grade level, this book will richly reward every moment you spend with it. Thrones are toppled and regained, love is experienced in all of its richness and despair, and the adventures the hero has to live through are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. All kinds of demons and monsters are fought and conquered. Yes, the translation is old-fashioned, but so beautiful that only the most determinedly modern reader will balk at reading it. It is well worth the time and thought that it will require.
