About the Author
Katherin FitzPatrick, or "Kathie," has been a writer, a poet and a songwriter since her early youth. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, she migrated with her family to the magical location of the Yakima Valley Region in 1990. A warm, sun shiny valley on the other side of the Cascade mountains, about 3 hrs. east of Seattle--it has been called one of the last Shangrila's in America. It is a perfect place to write, create and dream. Kathie lives a life of high contrast, as a Realtor on some days, and then the woman in black leather on other days, working with teens in youth detention, she affectionately calls 'her kids.' Kathie FitzPatrick is a 1980's graduate of The Institute of Chilldren's Literature, Redding Ridge, CT.

Learning life's greatest lessons the entertaining way

Katherin Fitzpatrick, author of Angel Promises is back with a book that is sure to please all ages. When a self proclaimed dull rock decides the life of a star is more glamorous than what she is experiencing, her friend The Wind steps in to take the dull, little rock on a journey. As the little rock moves from place to place, she changes to become something precious. But in the process, will she continue to strive to be a star shining in the heavens or become the little rock she was destined to be?
Packed with the sort of wisdom parents long to pass on to their children, Fitzpatrick teaches self acceptance through a light-hearted, entertaining approach. Don't underestimate the impact, however, on all ages, as this timeless story will become relevant to everyone. If you have ever wanted to be someone else, or thought you could never do anything with your life, The Wish will gently remind you that life is a process and even though you may think you are mundane, or dull, you have the potential to become precious. In fact, you are precious. It's just a matter of realizing the journey is as important as the end result.

The Blessed Meek

The Wish written and illustrated by Katherin Blackwood Fitzpatrick is a gem of a children’s book that my children and I loved to the core. As opposed to other books in this genre that has an animal as the “hero” of the book. This one has a tiny rock as the protagonist. If you are wondering how a rock can tell a story. Wait till you read the book and listen to its thoughts. And plus the beautiful eyes it has helps see our beautiful world! My children have just begun reading books on their own and they found this easy to understand and follow. They stopped at multiple times during the book and asked me to explain a passage in the book. They understood that there was a message there but just couldn’t figure out what it was. I thought this was a good sign, not only were they interested in reading the book but they also wanted to find out about the subtle messages hidden within the story. It is an adorable, sweet and gentle story appropriate for young children. There is a religious part to it but it is very subtly mentioned.

Sweet Story

The softly painted pictures of stars, sky, animals, trees and our tiny rock elevate the book to a different level. It is a small book and the moment I finished reading it, I fell in love with it. I have to say, this book feels like a keeper. Save it and gift this to your children and grandchildren. They all will have as much fun and learn something from it as I did. Even if you keep this on your shelf, I think you will pick this from time to time and re-read it. The message is simple and straightforward and it just gets to you. I am excited and happy that I got to read this book. You don’t have to be a parent to read this one. This book won’t hurt the religious sentiments of anyone. By that I mean, irrespective of the level of faith you have, you won’t be offended by the message in the book. Because, at the end of the day this isn’t a religious message. But it is more like a good moral to try and live happy.
