Great Set of Books!

The “Apocalyptic Visions Super Boxset” is a fantastic set of 6 well written stories all with strong characters on both sides of the coin. Add in the fantastic price for that many stories and you have a really great combination. I enjoyed every story in this set and will continue to read what new stories the author writes in the future. Below are reviews of each story in this set.
“Exiled” is a great story with many strong, likable (and hated) characters in a realistic, future world. A normal day for Brooke and her two children soon turns into a race to leave their home when the water runs dry. Across the United States, a corrupt man pushes through a piece of vile legislation dealing with this waterless area. The story switches between multiple storylines, but is surprisingly easy to follow. The action and storylines flow from one to the other with tension, excitement and a few surprises. I followed each journey with interest and loved how the characters were written and developed. I really wanted to make sure that each and every one of them received what they deserved at the end. And they did!
“Distressed” is a great story with good pacing and great action. I was surprised at how much destruction was caused and how evil the bad guy really was. I found the story to be mostly realistic (sometimes far-fetched) and something that could possibly happen. There were many unexpected twists and I was very satisfied with the tension filled ending. The characters were complex and interesting to follow and I liked the way the story was written.
“Agent Hill” is a fantastic story that follows Agent Sarah Hill and her and her “desk partner”, Bryce through a spy agency that is not associated with any one nation. The particular mission in this story involves many different nations, the threat of a largescale war and then becomes personal. It is interesting that in this story there is more than one villain and many twist and turns. My only slight complaint is how lucky she sometimes appears to be even though her skills are second to none. I enjoyed this very much! I would love more books written with these characters.
“Broken Lines” left me speechless (in a good way) many times with how the story developed. I found this story to be the darkest in its view of a future world and the downfall of humanity. This story is violent and heartbreaking! I was amazed at how the many characters were easy to keep track of and each one was developed. This story had many twists and surprises.
“World War IV” is an interesting read since it takes place in a future that is more like the past since a nuclear war took out all modern conveniences including automatic weapons and even basic technology like radios. I enjoy that most of the story takes place on ships and horses and that everyone deals with the same travel setbacks. However, that changes when the Chinese ally themselves with Russia and Brazil to attack North America and Australia with modern items long forgotten. I really like the characters in the story and that they are brothers which adds another level of connection. As I was reading this book, I thought that it would make a good movie.
“GMO24” is a believable, futuristic story that takes place after our fertile lands are destroyed and in turn places a food hardship on society. The storylines between different groups of characters flows smoothly with enough action to keep the story moving. In a time where there is so much pain and suffering, there is always hope and there is a great balance between these two. The story also seems to keep a small bit open as I wonder if there is more to come in this world and with these characters. I hope so! My one complaint would be in not getting enough background information in the beginning about the GMO disaster. A general timeline would have been helpful even if the specifics related to the characters came later in the story. I am not too familiar with GMO as a subject matter and this would have helped me in reading the story.

If you like action and loads of gunfights, you'll probably enjoy these books. My pros & cons below contain some minor spoilers.

I made it through four of the six stories before I put it away and moved on to other books. Won't buy more of the author's books, but you might enjoy them.
There was no sex, but plenty of graphic violence involving gunshot and knife wounds. There are a couple sexual assault scenes in one book, but they are not too graphic. It's not gratuitous violence--murder and sexual assault are part of the landscape in a lawless, post-disaster world.
Pro: Good character development, including strong female "action heroes."
Con: The protagonists seem to survive against incredible odds that I often find unbelievable. Suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride.
Pro: Each of the four stories I read had a strong family unit that was trying to stay together and safe in extraordinary circumstances. The author does a nice job showing the motivations of the characters and how their morals and ethics sometimes change in life and death situations.
Pro: Plot twists made it impossible to predict what might happen next. Entertaining!
Con: Errors in the text were just as unpredictable. The many typos, punctuation errors, and logic errors are jarring, interrupting the flow of the story, like hitting little speed bumps. Examples of these errors follow.
***SPOILER ALERT***
In "Distressed", when the captain first spots the other boat: "Then on the horizon Dylan saw the flash of a red flare." The Coast Guard radios the captain to report that the distressed boat is ten miles from the captain's boat. Later in the story, the captain states, "We were about one hundred twenty miles from shore when I saw a flare off the starboard side of a vessel two hundred yards northeast from our position." Was it ten miles, or 200 yards? The distance was not vital to the plot, but the mistake was momentarily confusing.
The author sometimes has mistakes in the timeline (a character is in two different cities at the same time) or get his characters' names mixed up (like the scene where Jenna is shot, and the author refers to her as "Fay".) These mistakes pull me out of the story as I pause, thinking "oops, the author made a booboo there."
And the spelling errors! "The only exit the biker's had was to retreat back into the rooms" and "I was going to clean them off, but I liked the new color to much." The author needs a proofreader or copy editor.

A great reading set!

I love the fact that the set is available complete. I enjoy reading books in this genre for their action and adventure. James Hunt is one of my favorite authors.
This action-packed set kept me busy for days on end. I couldn’t put them down until I read the whole book!!
James Hunt takes us into a very realistic future in each one of these books. This is a must read series that can give you a glimpse of a real possible futures for our country! These books really make you think.
I found each story well written and packed with detail! I thoroughly recommend this set!!
