About the Author
Christine Staple-Ebanks is the Founder and President of the Nathan Ebanks Foundation, a not for profit organization established in Jamaica which works for the inclusion, empowerment and participation of children with disabilities. In 2010, she co-founded the Nathan Ebanks Children Advocacy Group a Charitable 501c3 organization established in New York, USA, to render assistance to children inclusively (with and without disabilities). Christine has more than 28 years’ experience in senior positions in private and public sector organizations including more than ten years as a disability-inclusive advocate. Her advocacy work began in 2004, following the diagnosis of her fourth child Nathan with Cerebral Palsy. She switched careers to embark on a new path as a social entrepreneur, establishing the organizations to bridge the gap for information and support to children with disabilities and their families in Jamaica. Since that time, Christine has worked tirelessly in the education and disability sectors in Jamaica, representing the issues in various national media. Her work span capacity building and intervention for parents, teachers and policy-makers. She has worked at the early childhood, primary and secondary levels, has organized dozens of special education conferences, disability related and professional development workshops. Christine has been working in Jamaica to strengthen communities’ capacities to research, plan, develop and implement programmes for inclusion and to mainstream child rights and protection within the society. She has served on several local and national boards and Committees, including the National Disability Advisory Board. She is a frequent speaker, conference and workshop presenter, and her work has been featured in local newspapers. Christine and her husband Robert have been married for nearly 20 years and live in Kingston, Jamaica with their four children.

Wonderful eye opening read

Wonderful eye opening read! Couldn't put it down! Reading this book allowed me to see the "other side" of Chris & Robert two people I've known for over twenty years... Saw them everyday at school with their kids but would have never guessed the enormous stress they were going through! If anything reading this book has taught me is to never ever take my family and the few fteindships I have for granted. It taught me strength, patience and the power of a strong woman, wife & mother's prayer... I salute Chris for sharing this wonderfully inspiring story with the world.. And I.know now that whatever challenges I may face in the present and in my future ...I can and will never give up! If Chris and Robert could survive grow and prosper I know I or anyone else can..... by grace

Every Life indeed has a story

Really enjoyed the story of Raising Nathan. I got teary at times and so emotional. Was able to live Nathan's early life through the narration given. Choice of words used throughout was very emotive. It causes the reader to think about his/her life and the blessings to be able to birth a child that is an inspiration and blessing to others. The story delve into the lack of tools/teaching aids needed to meet the needs of exceptional children. a very good read

Excellent... Authentic Work!!

An intense intriguing journey that takes the reader into the life of a parent and family of a child with a disability - Cerebral Palsy. A journey of life with all it's ups, downs and in betweens. Real life that makes you laugh, sigh or shed an occasional tear. Life lessons on the health system, balancing life and the importance of family support.
A MUST read by ALL - families, caregivers, medical personnel, Social Workers, teachers, educators, politicians and policy makers, all in the religious fraternity, all in the disability, business and social sectors.
A life changing experience that helps you to see beyond what is presented to what needs to be put in place. In it I see my role and I know you will see yours too.
Kudos to author Christine and family who are allowing the world into the privacy of your home, your thoughts, your reality. You have exposed yourself to such levels of vulnerability so that you can touch the heart of a nation and a people. The Hon. Prime Minister needs a copy.
I like forward to the work that will be accomplished because of this book. All you have been through will not be in vain!!
