I wrote my first book of fairy tales with the intent of reaching both young and old, adding a bit of whimsy and once upon a time to those whose lives had seen too much sorrow.
When I started hearing back from readers, I knew I had accomplished that feat.
Some wrote to tell me they read a story before bed, preferring to drift off to sleep peacefully, rather than in a state of agitation after evening news.
Most savored the book slowly,reading one fairy tale at at sitting.
My most cherished letter came from a reader who shared my book with her elderly mother, both of them reading to each other. So the wheel of life had turned full cycle. The happiness of childhood fairy tales had now become the final, treasured moments of a daughter and mother, near the end of her life.
I hope those who enjoyed the journey through my first book of fairy tales, will continue on and enjoy the next path.
My first book cover showed the doorway upon which to enter. This one shows the entire castle, beckoning those to continue on to a place of once upon a time.

A lovely book of fairy tales for young and old.

Shirl's latest offering, ONCE UPON A FAIRY TALE, is a collection of stories about little mice, dogs, dragons, birds and more. The delightful characters take the reader to a place where compassion, bravery, and love fill the heart of those we meet. We see what true beauty means and the value of friendship. Most touching of all, the special little dog with a warm heart filled with love and sharing, lives on and on. Shirl's tales are truely delightful, and perfect for sharing with others.

My book arrived this afternoon and I finished it in no time I found myself not being able to put it down. hard to say which is my favorite they were all very cute, some sad some happy... A very good read for sure... A good one to read to your grand children for years to come..
I enjoyed it very much, as well as the others of Shirl's books that I've read.

Beautiful and enlightening

This book is a delightful collection of fairy tales that will touch your heart and speak to your soul. The characters come to life as you read each word and it is easy to envision the stories unfolding while turning each page. I love this book and highly recommend it for yourself and/or for those you hold dear to your heart.
