I highly recommend it, not only to professionals

For those of us in the field who work with children and families who have clearly experienced parental alienation, and whose goal has been to help them overcome its crippling effects, what has been missing in the field is a book that not only deals with its scope world-wide and generational impact, but also its developmental traumatic effects on the individuals and the family system. Those who would deny the reality of parental alienation should reconsider. Those who have never considered its reality should take note. Drs. Harman and Birigen have done us all a genuine favor in churning through all the research and writing this splendid book. I highly recommend it, not only to professionals, but also to parents and all family members.

Harman does an exceedingly fantastic job in contrasting the female battle to gain parity ...

Having pursued legislative changes in Colorado for the last 4 years, I deeply understand that change doesn't happen for two reasons: 1) Because the financial predators of our time, lawyers and custody evaluators fight tooth and nail to protect their lucrative business model of preying on vulnerable families. 2) The Domestic Violence (DV) lobby, well funded under the Federal Violence Against Women's Act (VAWA) would rather increase divorce conflict to enhance their relevance instead of supporting policy that would dramatically reduce incidences of DV and child abuse.
Family Courts, used as weapons by lawyers and parents who wish to alienate the other parent out of child's life, are complicit in this national failure that fails to protect our families/children.
Dr. Harman does an exceedingly fantastic job in contrasting the female battle to gain parity in the workplace to the male battle to gain parity in the home. I predict Parents Acting Badly will become a foundational reference in the push for family court reform and will become instrumental in raising family court reform discussion to the national level. Thank you Dr. Harman.

Because of extensive interviews to collect data, the book does an outstanding job of explaining the many facets of parental alienation, from courts, to schools, to neighbors and extended families.
